The Network
Welcome to the "Dual Career Network Hamburg + der Norden"
The network „Dual Career Hamburg + der Norden“ is an alliance of scientific institutions from the Hamburg metropolitan region and the cities of Bremen and Kiel, business enterprises, as well as service institutions from Hamburg. On 28 May 2019, it was founded at a ceremonial act in the Hamburg City Hall and it is under the patronage of Science Senator and Second Mayor of the City of Hamburg, Katharina Fegebank.
The central goal of the network is to help scientific and cultural institutions as well as business enterprises to attract highly qualified employees for the metropolitan region of Hamburg and the north. In order to recruit top scientists for Hamburg, it is essential that also their accompanying working partners will find attractive career opportunities.
The task of the dual career counselling is therefore to support the accompanying partners of new employees (dual career partners) in their entry into the job market at the new location. This service offers support to the so-called dual career couples, with both partners pursuing a professional career.
Within the network, members are able to contact each other quickly and sound out possible employment options for dual career couples. All personal data of the dual career couples and their job profile conceptions will be handled confidentially. The staffing of identified job vacancies is carried out within the law.
For business enterprises, the network offers a higher visibility and direct contact to new highly qualified employees.
With this programme, the network „Dual Career Hamburg + der Norden“ helps to become more successful in the recruitment of international top scientists and to ensure the long-term commitment of dual career couples to the region. The dual career services of the University of Hamburg and Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron coordinate the network.
